The third points race of the MHRA's 2009 season is in the books. It was a hot 102 degree day but that did not stop anyone. The nitro cars adjusted to the weather and the electric car tried to find traction. We started off the day with practis witch lead into qualifying. Starting off with the Bracket class it was Gary Kirkpatric taking top qualifier with a .073 reaction time. In the finals it was Rosalie C vs Gary K, Rosalie would take the win over Gary as he red lit. In the A Gas class it was Jim Schauer taking top qualifier. Jimmy would make it to the finals against Kenny W, Kenny would take the win over jimmy. In the 2 cell class it was Chris Smith nabing the number one spot just over Jim Schauer with a 1.61 to a 1.62. They would meet up in the finals where Chris takes the win with a 1.57. The funny car class was combined nitro and electric with Mark Rollings taking the number one spot with a 1.56. In the finals it was Kenny W vs Brian B, Electric vs nitro, Nitro would get the win with Brian B beating Kenny. What a class the Electric Top fuel class was, in qualifying 5 of the 6 cars were seperated by 8 hundredths of a second!!!. Chirs Smith grab the number one spot with a 1.43, he would make it to the finals and take the win over Brian B with a 1.42 second pass. Finally it was the noise makers, Nitro Top Fuel. Austin Hunsaker took top qualifyer with his Litespeed rail at a 1.71. Mark Rollings was right on his tail in the number 2 spot with a 1.72. Both Austin and Mark would make their way to the finals where Mark would take the win with a 1.88 over Austins fading 5.02.

It was a hot but fun day in the sun with lots of close racing all around. We have a short break tell June 20th when get it on again for the 4th points race in the MHRA. BE there!!!!!
