Last weekend was the first race on the MHRA's new track surface, and man what a race it was. The day started off with a rain delay of about an hour and thirty minutes. After the track dried out, it was time for racing. A few cars tested the track and found it to be very good. Then we had another delay when the timing system stopped working. With the help of a few racers an hour later the timing system was working excellent once again. When racing resumed it came with a bang as Jim "The Rainman" Schauer blazes the new track with a 1.28 @ 99mph the quickest pass in the history of RC drag racing. Not to long after the "Rainman's" history making run Mark Rollings blazes the track with his nitro powered dragster at a 1.47 @ 81mph. Mark's run is the quickest nitro pass in the history of RC drag racing. Alex Garza was not too far behind when he layed down a 1.59 with his nitro power dragster. Alex also defeated Mark R. in the finals of the Nov. 3 race that was completed during qualifying. Because of the delays we only got two rounds of qualifying in before it got dark. So we decided to finish the third round of qualifying and eliminations on Dec. 15th. Except the Funny car class, because a few racer that were not going to be able race on the 15th. All the funny car racers came to an agreement to run eliminations in the almost complete darkness. Nick Skinner was top qualifier and made it to the finals where he went against Frank Ibarra. Frank Ibarra would walk away with the win in a very close race. This was Frank's first win in the funny car class.

We got one last race to complete the MHRA's 07 Champion Chip season. So far we have two rounds of qualifying in with one more to go. Alex Garza is TQ in Nitro Top Fuel and Jim "The Rainman" Schuaer is TQ in Extreme. It's going to be an interesting race. See y'all on Dec. 15th!
