Hello MHRA race fans. Race number five of the ten race series is in the books. What a race it was. With the temperature hovering around the 110 degree mark all day it was a hot one. The weather was hot the track was hot and so was the racing. As normal we started off the day with open practice and then went into qualifying.

Starting off with the Bracket class there were four competitors going for the number one spot. After the third round of qualifying it was Rosalie C. taking the number one spot with a reaction time of .013. In the ever crazy Super Gas class it was Jim “Rainman” Schauer taking the number one spot with a 1.78 at 73mph. In the Funny Car class it was Brian B. taking the number one spot with his nitro powered funny car. The Electric Top Fuel class saw Jim “Rainman Schauer taking the number one spot with a record setting run of 1.43 seconds at 94mph. In the Nitro Top Fuel class it was the youngster Austin Hunsaker taking the number one spot with an impressive 1.72 second pass with his Litespeed powered rail.

After a short lunch break it was on to eliminations. Starting off with the Bracket class it was the unstoppable Rosalie C. taking the win over her teammate Brian B. with a very impressive .02 reaction time and a 2.59 second pass. In the crazy Super Gas class we saw Jim the Rainman Schauer going up against Roy W. Roy would take the win over jimmy with a 1.85 second pass. In the very popular Funny car class it was the number three qualifier Mark Rollings going against the number 6 qualifier Randy Spearing. When the lights dropped we saw Mark Rollings with his Vegas Jim Racing funny car taking the win over Randy with a 1.64 second pass. In the crazy fast Electric Top Fuel class it was the record setting Jim Schauer who set the MHRA’s ETF record in the semi finals at a 1.4141 going against Brian B. Brian B would take the win as jimmy’s car did the mamba shuffle. But jimmy didn’t go away empty handed as he reset the ETF record once again at a very impressive 1.4067. Last but certainly not least was the noise makers of the Nitro Top Fuel class. In the finals it came down the number one qualifier Austin Hunsaker going against the number two qualifier Eric Selesky. When the lights dropped they both hit the throttle and Eric hit it just a little too quick and red lit. Austin saw this and very wisely lifted and coasted his Litespeed powered rail down the track for the win.

It was fun hot day of racing, but that didn’t stop the racing action. The racers endured the heat and some came out on top, others when home early to cool down. None the less it was a great event. The next race is August 15th, it could be another hot one so bring lots of ice and water.

See you out there!!!
