Another race is in the books folks. Race number eight of the ten race MHRA point’s series is over and the points are shaking up.

 It was a nice warm sunny southern California day. With the temperature hovering around 100 degrees, it made for some hot racing action.  Getting right to the action. First up was the Bracket class where new comer Marisa Mitchell fresh off here win from the September race took the number one qualifying spot with a .009 reaction time.  Marisa would make it all the way to the finals (for the second race in a row) to take on Gary Kirkpatrick. Gary would take the win running closer to his dial-in. In the Electric Funny Car class it was Mike Smith taking the number one spot with a very impressive 1.51 second pass.  Mark Rollings was the number two qualifier with a 1.59 second pass. Both Mike Smith and Mark Rollings would make it to the finals where Mark would take the win on a double red light and Mike hitting the wall. In the crazy fast Electric Top Fuel class it was the “Rainman” Jim Schauer taking the number one spot with a very quick 1.4097 second pass. In the finals it was Kenny W. going against Coty R. When the dust settled it was Coty R. taking the win over Kenny with a 1.43 second pass. Last but not least is the noise maker class known as Nitro Top Fuel. At the end of qualifying it was Mark Rollings taking the number one spot with a 1.73 second pass. As it came down to the final two it was Brain B. going against Erik Selesky. In a very close final it was Brian B. taking the win over Erik with a 1.84 second pass.

 With only two races left in the MHRA point series the point battles in a few classes are heating up. In the Bracket class it looks like Rosalie C. has a commanding lead over Gray Kirkpatrick. In the 2-cell class Chris Smith and Jim Schauer are only separated by 10 points. Look for that one to go down to the last race. Mark Rollings has locked the Championship title in the Electric Funny Car class. Brian B. has locked the championship in the Nitro Funny Car class. Brian B. has a 155 point lead over Jim Schauer in the Electric Top Fuel class. Brian B. also has a 40 point lead over Austin Hunsaker in the Nitro Top Fuel class. It’s coming down to the wire in a few classes with only two races left. The racing action is only going to heat up.
